Tons Of Tombs

In Hyderabad, there's a lovely rural area that's known as the Qutb Shahi tombs. Since the tombs are Muslim, the theme is onion domes, Moorish arches, minarets and other signature architectural details of the religion. Made mostly of granite, each tomb is impressive in scale, placement and finely-carved details. Our king and mistress friends were laid to rest in the 1500 and 1600s.

A typical tomb, if one dares call such an arresting structure typical. The scorecard, in case you're tomb counting.

Inside one of the tombs, still maintained and kept open for visitation. A doubleheader.

A detail, showing the incredible and endless carving. Outside one of the tombs, featuring the folks who didn't make the cut for their own space. Maybe kids, pets and the help?
