Rasos Cemetery, Vilnius

Vilnius is full of impressive cemeteries, like this one here. Among the more famous ones is Rasos cemetery. It's the oldest in the city and, of course, lots of famous people are buried there. Wander the grounds and you'll find the graves of writers, artists and plenty of esteemed professors from Vilnius University. The place to be seen, forever.

A highlight? The famous artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis is buried there, along with his family.

Central church.

No shortage of heavily carved, appropriately titled, head stones.

Family grave of Čiurlionis.

Hotshot Vilnius professors are in abundance, looking confident beyond the grave.

Legitimate Olde Timey writing.

Ephemeral religious figures.

Sign of past conflicts. Polish graves of soldiers killed during Polish, Soviet and Lithuanian battles after WWI.
