The Hill Of Witches (Raganų Kalnas) Near Juodkrantė, Lithuania

There's a curious attraction down the Curonian spit, a meandering path through the forest, dotted with wooden sculptures. The location has been used for centuries for celebrating St John. In 1979, local folk artists established the first group of sculptures, which has repeatedly been expanded. There's a long history in Lithuania of wood carving, specifically fantastical figures of folklore and pagan history. Think ancient Disney. A fun walk through the woods.

The serene scenery is broken by fun sculptures.

Fun? Silly. Or sculptures based on fables. Impressive carving.

There are also interactive genre scenes. Sit down, play some cards.

Celebrations of life, celebrations of…what, did those guys get stuck? Moving on....

A silly slide, perfect for the theme.
